
PROMPT RESPONSE: EKPHRASTIC SUNFLOWER POEM
My gift of love to you
We often wandered far and wide
Through fields of glory sun,
Gath’ring sheaves of golden orbs,
Until the day was done.
Cornflower skies and green-gold fields
Filled our passion days.
Mist of love and dreams unfurled
In idle yellow haze.
It honors not, our glory hours,
One sad and drooping bloom —
With leaden heart, I draw some more
To decorate your tomb.
I’m leaving you this offering,
In rinsed out chutney jar,
A shining symbol of our days;
Love’s beacon from afar.
